The debate went around the relevance of the North-South cleavage, the impact of the financial and sovereign debts\u2019 crises in development or the effects of the growing power of China and other emerging economies in the current international architecture, the apparent contradiction between decreasing in absolute poverty levels and increasing wealth inequalities, as well as on the strategic challenges that arise from security threats.<\/p>\n<p>The Lisbon Conferences were established with the signing of a cooperation agreement in 2013 by seven organisations: CCIP \u2013 Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry; CML \u2013 Lisbon Municipality; FPA \u2013 Portugal-Africa Foundation; IMVF \u2013 Marqu\u00eas de Valle Fl\u00f4r Institute; ISCTE-IUL \u2013 Lisbon University Institute; SOFID \u2013 Society for Development Financing; UCCLA \u2013 Union of Portuguese-speaking Capital Cities.
