BRIEF 1/2026 – International Cooperation, Challenges and Pathways for Implementing the Sustainability Agenda

There are moments in history when societies discuss ideas. And there are moments when they are forced to make choices. When we talk about sustainability policies, we are no longer in the time of ideas; we are in the time of choices. And difficult choices.

Because what is at stake today is not only the environment. It is the economic model. It is the way we organise production and consumption. It is the social cohesion of our democracies. And, increasingly, it is the very sovereignty of States.
But before all this, what is truly at stake is people. The way they live, work, move around, feed themselves; the way they can, or cannot, make it to the end of the month; the way they look at the future of their children.
