THE ACCELERATION OF GLOBAL CHANGE AND HOW THE PANDEMIC IS AFFECTING IT

30 Set. A 2 Out. 2020
ONLINE
#CONFERENCIASLX2020

The 4th Lisbon Conference, held between 30 September and 2 October 2020, was held online for the first time due to the pandemic crisis.

The acceleration of global change is increasingly affecting the environment and our ways of life, with the future rapidly entering the present, forcing people, societies and political systems to face new realities – some of which are difficult to understand or even to acknowledge.

On a global scale, the adoption in 2015 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement marked an unprecedented awareness of the challenges and threats facing humanity and the planet. As always, the fulfilment of the commitments made depends on the will and capacity of countries, regions, communities, public and private institutions, families and individuals. Consensus is generally more complex when it comes to public and common goods – after all, why waste financial resources or time when the work can be left to others?
