7th Lisbon Conference – A World in Uncertainty: Reshaping the Global Order
The 7th edition of the Lisbon Conferences will take place on 8 and 9 October, in Auditorium 2 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundationbringing together around 40 speakers to debate and reflect on various aspects of ‘In a World of Uncertainty: The Reconfiguration of the Global Order’.
The geopolitical, economic, technological, demographic and environmental changes that are reshaping the global order will form the basis for in-depth reflection over the course of two days. The Conference will not only analyse these transformations but also reflect on their long-term implications, incorporating the perspectives of younger generations.
The opening session will be attended by the President of the Republic, António José Seguro. Speakers will include, amongst others, Jorge Moreira da Silva, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations; Hein de Haas, sociologist and one of the world’s leading scholars on migration; Virgínia Dignum, author of *The AI Paradox* and a leading expert on artificial intelligence; Pavan Sukhdev, a global authority on the green economy and winner of the Tyler Prize (sometimes referred to as the ‘Nobel Prize for the environment’); Antónia Colibășanu, senior analyst at Geopolitical Futures; Arkebe Oqubai, British Global Academy Professor at SOAS, of Ethiopian nationality; Nathalie Tocci, drafter of the European Union’s Global Strategy; and Li Xing, an academic specialising in the geopolitical and economic implications of China’s rise.
